Salam (Peace be onto You)
My name is Saudia Ally (was not named after Saudi Arabia), I currently attend the University of Florida. I am a junior majoring in Biology with hopes to go to Pharmacy School in the next two years. I was born and raised for ten years in Guyana, South America and then moved to Bronx, NY where I lived there until 2004 then moved to Florida. In each of these places I learned a lot about my identity as a Muslim once a Caribbean Muslim now adjusting to be an American Muslim. My blog will try to show the experiences faced by a Muslim woman living in America during the 1950s. Trying to understand the experience a woman goes through while adjusting with identity to her new surroundings, but also the surroundings is going through change. The start of the Cold War years brings change to America and the country’s thoughts on immigrants and their policies.
