The whole ending and wrapping up on this blog and class has opened my eyes. Watching t.v passively before I didn’t even think that was possible, but now I know that is what I engage in most of the time. I don’t sit there and pick apart meanings. The readings of the novels not to find the authors meaning but to seek what forms authors used. Maybe someone will come and do this to my blog. See what pros they can take out of it on forming an identity trait. What makes up the identity of the blog? All the characteristics such as print used, font used, color, images, the text, the words in the text.
I think the blog is very unconventional in describing an identity. Everything has meaning and plays a part in the identity. Color used in text and background and not just described as color on one’s skin. Or boldness or certain letters and boldness of color for attitude. Some might not think such a person can speak that bold in words but the text itself function for creating that thought.
I think after this class I definitely read novels differently. Before I was a passive reader just taking images and descriptions for what it said and not looking further into a feeling the author or the feeling I perceive from it. Unconventional thought, I never before thought of. Even conventional thinking such as in textbooks and history. The word I learned today is conformity from psychology. And thus psychology deals with areas such as human development and conformity would inhibit human development. Critical thinking strives not to conform and make students more “well rounded” for the outisde world. Growth through learning unconventional methods.
